Cajun Beef Burgers

1 lb ground beef
1 tsp garlic salt
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp dry mustard
1/4 tsp dried thyme
1/4 tsp ground red pepper
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
1 onion, sliced, separated into rings
2 hamburger buns, split, toasted
